Okay, let's cut to the chase, no clutter, no hype, no false reviews, no multi-colour sales page, just some plain facts.

The guitar scam reality

No one want's to be ripped off, and guess what? When you started searching for the best guitar method, you wasn't even thinking about being ripped off until the "marketeers" planted the thought in your head. It's an age old selling trick. If you want to weed out the guitar scams then the first thing you need to do is realise that if there are any scammers then the majority of them are the ones that plant the idea in the first place.

Do a search for "guitar lessons" in Google and you are greeted with the usual "don't buy until you have read this" or "Is Jamorama a scam" etc.. Let me tell you this, if you are trying to find some truth about ANY product then these are the first ones you need to be most cautious of. The real truth is this ... There aren't that many guitar methods that are scams. I have researched (not necessarily purchased) most of the online guitar methods and I have only come across one that I would call a scam. There is however a lot of hype.

Wading Through The Hype

This is the tough part and the easiest thing to do is ignore it. Virtually every product is surrounded by hype and always has been. All you need to be interested in is what it can do for you. Ignore testimonials on the sales page, most of them are fabricated. Summarise the sales page yourself and make the decision if it suits what you are looking for I.e. Is it intended for pure beginners, is it style dependant. If you want to learn Bluegrass for instance then get a method that is focused on Bluegrass otherwise you might be wasting some valuable time.

What to look out for.

This one's easy. Apart from the obvious things like price and money back guarantee (which Jamorama offers) the main thing to avoid is false claims. I'll make this simple for you right now. You CANNOT learn guitar in 60 minutes or seven days. There is no method on this planet that can show any kind of significant improvement in such short amounts of time. There is no secret, there are no amazing formulas and no other way to do it that the pros don't want you to know about. Trust me, I can't emphasize this enough. I guarantee that any product making these claims as the main selling feature will be selling something that's just “average” at best. Most of the methods available will often sprinkle some similar hyped claim throughout their marketing and sales letters, these you can normally ignore. When you come across methods that use these kinds of outrageous claims as the main selling feature, take it as a warning to head straight for your browsers back button!

Finding The Real Reviews

Be careful with review sites, many of them are fabricated and the user comments are fictitious. With experience you can weed out the good from bad in an instant but unless you have marketing experience then you'll probably not be able to tell one from the other. If you want real answers then look for community sites like forums. If a product has been around for a while then it's guaranteed that someone, somewhere is talking and asking questions about it. If somebody is saying something is useless then try to read between the lines. Most guitar methods aren't really that bad, they are just over-hyped which invariably leads to a lot of people buying it for the wrong reasons. The result is they feel ripped off. This doesn't really let you know if a product is bad, it just lets you know it wasn't right for that person. This is usually easy to figure out. If a product is that bad and that much of a rip off then they will be be giving valid and definite reasons why. Most of the time a review like “it was the biggest pile of rubbish I have ever bought” really means ... It was not was I was expecting it to be.

The Truth About Jamorama - Is It For You?

Going on a mission to find the real answers to everything I've outlined above takes a bit of time. The good news is I've already done the work for you. I'm not here to tell you the in's and outs of what you get with Jamorama, I'm just giving you the info you need to decide whether it's the right choice for you.

The simple answer is this. If you are in the beginner to intermediate stages of playing the guitar then Jamorama is absolutely made for you. It lays out the foundations of everything you need to know and practice, and does a good job of it. The videos are where you get the real value from this course. The written parts of the course gives you nothing revolutionary and you can pretty much find this kind of information anywhere on the Internet for free, but guess what? ... You can say the same thing about every available guitar book, method and magazine. What Jamorama does is simply puts the critical information together in an organised manner ready for you to get stuck in, believe me, that's a lot of work. The jam along tracks and the video example are what makes Jamorama such a useful course for beginner guitarists.

What Jamorama is not going to do for you (nor any single guitar method) is make you the next overnight Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton. It's not going to have you ripping out guitar solos (Jamorama Lead is a separate course) and you won't be learning any amazing new discoveries, no guitar course on the planet will do this for you. Jamorama get's it fair share of bad mouthing and to be honest I'm not surprised with some of their over-hyped attention grabbing sales lines. If they dropped one or two of those kinds of statement from their sales pages then Jamorama would be getting a lot more rave reviews.

If there's only one snag with this system then it's the lack of real hard copy manuals and DVD disks. You will need a computer and broadband connection to download this course but then if that was a problem you wouldn't be reading this right now and most of us have broadband nowadays. For me personally, the computer has become a major benefit and addition to my own guitar practice so I would view that as a pro rather than a con.

If you are a beginner or struggling guitarist looking for a guitar learning course that can take you to the next level, you are fed up with learning from books because of the lack of video or visual explanations and play along practice tracks, can't face anymore trawling through the ninety percent of rubbish on the Internet to find the decent stuff then Jamorama is going to save you a ton of time and is hard to beat for the money.
