Site Update

There will be some upcoming changes to this website. None of the content is going away but most of the changes will be with the interactive parts like Q and A, comments and the membership area.

The Members Area
The members part of the site is going away but you won’t be losing out on anything.
Although I originally had plans to create member only content, I have only ever used it for extra jam tracks, which to be honest was just an attempt at reducing server load.
With this in mind, everything now will just be opened up so anyone can view.

Q and A
I will be closing the Q and A section. For now just to new questions. I won’t be deleting anything but will probably move the content around when I’ve figured out the easiest way to do it.
In the meantime I will be using a single questions page where you can just put comments. You can find that here Questions.

Comments
For now, no changes to the comments you can put at the bottom of most posts and lessons. This will still be enabled for posting without the need for email details, although at some point I might switch to moderating them instead of allowing them to be published instantly.

Your email and username details
For the members area and for some users of the Q and A, usernames and email addresses are stored on the website. I will be deleting all of these.
This won’t have any effect on you as these areas will no longer be in use and all of the content will still be available across the site as a whole but without any need to login.

Why am I doing this?
In short, it’s all just too much work and causes too many problems. GDPR and the new UK safety act, as usual with most government rules are impossible to decipher, full of contradiction and no real help or advice is offered – just ill thought out arbitrary rules that only affect small business and allow big entities to carry on as normal. Other than that, I’ll keep my opinions to myself 🙂

The other problem is that some of this site uses WordPress with plugins that don’t get updated or break other things when they do. All in all, too many problems and potential security risks to keep up with.

On the plus side, most things here will simply be easier for everyone 🙂
